A DRIVING TEST didn't go quite as planned for 2FM presenters Colm and Jim Jim this week after they accepted a challenge from an Arklow driving instructor to re-sit their exams.

Local man Declan Pluck called the show last week when he heard the pair chatting about road safety and bad driving habits regarding people who passed their tests years ago and were never examined since.

'I went on air and they accepted the challenge to do another driving test each so myself and my colleague Tony Murtagh set up a simulated test in Dublin which included theory, technical checks, identifying signs, secondary controls and of course driving skills. Both Colm and Jim Jim had myself as their tester and did the same test and had to wait until last Thursday morning for the results to be announced live on air,' explains Declan.

Surprisingly both men failed and Declan says this is largely due to bad habits developed over time, which happens to many experienced drivers.

'The purpose of the challenge was to highlight the bad habits and lack of knowledge of many motorists who even though have passed their tests in the past would fail today,' adds Declan.

Colm and Jim Jim both received full driving test reports and certificates to mark the challenge and Declan is hoping to welcome the pair to his new driving school for some refresher lessons.
