BUDDING YOUNG rock stars took to the stage recently for the School of Rock final concert.

The School of Rock summer camp is run by Greystones Theatre and Studios and has been garnering rave reviews from the kids for the past three years.

Kelly Smyth of Greystones Theatre said the event had been a huge success with a wealth of talent on show.

' The camp is run for two weeks in the theatre and there were more than 20 teenagers taking part. It is basically a music summer camp and we divide the teens into bands and they write their own songs, perform cover versions, have a photo shoot which is used to make their album cover.

' Then we record the work that they do and they get to take home a CD of their performances at the end of the session.

' They have a concert at the end which is great fun. This year's camp was absolutely brilliant. There was fantastic talent and it was unbelievable to see some of the performances. A lot of the stuff is uploaded onto YouTube. The feedback from the kids is amazing and they loved it.'

The concert was attended by parents and friends who were very impressed with the talent displayed by the teens.
