Bray's best women enjoy annual charity table quiz
THE BRAY & District Soroptimist annual charity fundraising table quiz took place last Friday, January 27. This year a record number of people turned out to take for the quiz.
Teams at over 30 tables on the night took part which made it a huge success. The Annual event was supported not just by members of the club, but by friends and local people from the community. The quizmaster for the evening was Soroptimist member Patricia Mchugh. Mrs Mchugh this year added a good few fun questions as well as the usual general knowledge ones and a few trick questions. The scores were very high and there was a very close run to the finish.
'We had a really enjoyable evening and we were delighted that so many people came along to support us,' said club president Katrina Farrelly-cooke.
The charities supported during Katrina's year as president are Bray Cancer Support, CF and the Wicklow Dementia Group. 'I would like to thank everyone for attending and for supporting these very worthy charity organisations,' she said. 'Also a huge thank you to Patricia Mchugh and all our members for all the hard work they did to make the night such a success and to the Bray Golf Club for once again allowing us to hold our quiz in their wonderful club.'
Founded in 1958, Bray & District Soroptimist Club is a member of the Soroptimist International movement, a global organisation for women in management and the professions that gives a voice for women through awareness, advocacy and action. Derived from the Latin words soro, meaning sister, and optima meaning best, they interpret soroptimists as 'the best of women'.
