SHOPPING TRIP

CAR DRAW

The Glendalough & District Development Association have launched a 300 to 1 Car Draw in aid of the Brockagh Centre. 1st Prize Hyundai Model i10, 2nd Prize ¤1,000, 3rd Prize Weekend Away for 2 People in Ireland and 4 prizes of ¤100. The Draw will take place on Sunday September 28th. Tickets are available from any member of the GDDA or from the Brockagh Centre.

YOGA WALK

The Yoga Walk day will take place on Saturday August 16 in the Brockagh Centre and Glendalough. It will suit anybody who is interested in going for a walk in the Wicklow area and also trying some yoga.

The day will start with a yoga session in the morning at 11am (no yoga experience is required). This will warm you up, stretch your muscles and have you ready for the walk ahead.

The walk will be about 4 hours long, ideally up around the lakes in Glendalough and will be led by a walking guide (at a pace to suit everyone).

There will be a break for lunch and many chances to take in the wonderful surroundings.

Tuesday night is dance night at the Brockagh Centre from 10 pm till late with the Wicklow Man.

BALLROOM DANCING

Absolute Beginners Ballroom Dancing starts on Wednesday nights in September from 7 to 8 p.m in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh. Places must be booked to ensure that there are enough numbers to start class. No experience or partners necessary. Contact Gina on 087 2818887.

MOBILE LIBRARY

The mobile library will be in Laragh on Thursday August 14 - 10 am to noon.

BATS FOR ALL THE FAMILY

August 14 - ‘Bats for all the Family,’ a lecture by The National Park Education Staff followed by a family bat walk.

The evening starts with a short interactive talk 7.45 p.m. at the Education Centre (beside the Upper Lake). At 8.30 p.m. we will head over to the Information Office for a bat walk (bring insect repellent and a torch).

Participants are welcome to attend either or both events. Booking is not required - all are welcome. For more details, phone 0404 45425.

DANCE NIGHT

Saturday Night Dance Night is back at the Brockagh Centre on Saturday August 30 with Tommy Carroll. Social dancing from 9.30 p.m. until late.

FAMILY FUN DAYS

The Family Fun Days are continuing on Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m. in the National Park, Glendalough until August 28. Bring your primary school aged children along to a mixed afternoon of nature-based activities. (Art, nature walks, etc).

MINI WORLD CUP

Moneystown Mini World Cup. Summer Soccer League open to all girls and boys aged 4 to 14 from August 18 to 21 from 6.30 to 8.30 p.m. Also mini soccer for under 4s. We are also looking for older teenagers who would be able to help put with penalty shootouts, refereeing, etc. If interested contact Adrienne Fanning on 086 8378304.
