MENTAL HEALTH Last week the Support Service Headsup came to the school along with Key West a super new band to hit the music scene. Headsup is an automated 24 hour text support service designed to help you access practical advice on issues like suicide alcohol, drugs, mental health, abuse, sexuality, sexual health, gambling, parenting, debt and other like issues. Text Headsup 50424 and you will get a reply asking which topic you need advice on. The service texts back a list of helpline numbers. Headsup is 100 per cent free and 100 per cent confidential. CROSS COUNTRY Congratulations to Jane Fagan who qualified in the Junior Section of the Leinster Schools Cross Country Championships held in DCU on Wednesday last. She qualified under really tough and heavy conditions. Well done to Ali Geraghty who was just pipped for qualification. LONDON HERE WE COME. Dominican College has a huge tradition of overseas school trips, during Ms Wilson's time tours went to the US, Russia, Spain, Italy, Austria, France to name but a few. The tradition still lives on and the appetite is as great as ever. On Saturday, March 27 the students and teachers will leave Dublin airport en route to London. During their 5 day stay the group will enjoy a show in the West End, visit the London Zoo, Madame Tussards, London Dungeons, Oxford St. and many other touristy delights.

OXFORD UNION DEBATE We would like to wish the following students every success in the Oxford Union Debate on Saturday in UCD Karen O'Carroll, Mide Kinsella, Paula Murphy and Julie Mc Kenna. Separating Church and State is the order of the day. The topic to be discussed is 'Should schools become non denominational'. This is a very worthwhile project for the girls to be involved in. Thanks to Mr. Sillery from the English Department for all the extra time he has put in.

BADMINTON Badminton is a new activity being introduced into the school. On March 2 ten of our students will travel to The Shoreline Leisure Centre in Greystones, to compete in a League set up by the Irish Badminton League. Good luck to all involved and to their coach Ms. Byrne.

NETBALL On March 22 a team from Wales will travel to Wicklow to take part in a Netball Competition with our 1st and 2nd year students adding an international flavour to the game.

VIVA LA VIDA Viva la Vida is a transition year Young Social Innovator project headed up by Ms Katherine Kelleher. Meaning to live life to the full. The students intend to set up a weekly forum of parents, teachers and students where problem issues can be discussed. The aim of the project is to have young people help themselves. A booklet will be produced and Viva La Vida will go on face book, where hopefully these problems can be aired and help can be found. VIVA LA FRANCE This week DCW is embracing all things french as part of the French Week Festivities. Students will be tasting croissants and crepes as well as dancing the can can. Treasure hunts and table quizzes will also be organised. EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY Fundraisers are presently being planned for the Physics students in DCW who are travelling to the European Space Agency in Brussels at Easter. A Yoga Workshop for students and teachers is presently being signed up for in the school. Mr O'Brien is also organizing a table quiz in the Wicklow Golf Club for Friday evening March 5 at 8.30 p.m.. All support would be greatly appreciated.
