Dressed to thrill

THE MEN and women of the East Wicklow Harriers are more accustomed to seeing one-another in jodhpurs and caked in dirt rather than stunning evening gowns or dinner jackets.
So some of them were hardly recognisable in their finery at the annual hunt ball in the Glenview Hotel last Saturday night.
Fundraising spokeswoman Carol Hogan said that the night was a great success.
The Songs of Legend Dance Band as well as Bray locals Rebecca Gresty and Stuart Crampton provided musical entertainment on the night.
'The food was absolutely fabulous,' said Carol.
She explained that the group is three years old and boasts 60 members. They meet every Saturday around County Wicklow from Ashford to Brittas, to Willow Grove and more. Carol said that the landowners in the area are very accommodating and allow them to hunt across their farms.
' We would never ride across anybody's land without permission,' she said.
The East Wicklow Hunt is a drag, meaning that the hounds follow an artificial scent rather than a live fox.
