WALKERS

The hardy walkers from Enniskerry and further afield were out last Saturday in big numbers and their next scheduled event is on Saturday week, once again meeting at Windsors Spar in the Village at 1.30 p.m., anyone can join in. CAREFUL

A few recent break-ins in the Enniiskerry Area should be a warning to everyone to lock up properly,any suspicious things should be reported to the the ever alert Enniskerry Gardai, and always let someone know that you might be away from your house overnight or longer. VOLUNTEER

An Enniskerry Lady is holding a Sponsored Walk on this coming Saturday to raise Funds for her trip to help out needy people in Africa. you can participate in the walks of which there are 3, short, medium and long. Details are shown in shops in the village. HISTORY SOCIETY

With 2 weeks to go to the next meeting of the Enniskerry History, which meets under the guidance of its President John Callan, tonight (Wednesday) members have been invited to tonight's (Wednesday) meeting of the Rathmichael Historical Society at 8pm in Rathmichael School, Stonebridge Road (Dublin Road end), Shankill, to hear the lecture by David Dickson on ' The "Little "Ice Age: 17391741" which is apt for this time of the year given that snow fell in the District last week and was reported on in AA Roadwatch bulletins on RTE Radio.

Members have also been invited to next Tuesday night's 8.30pm lecture by Séamus O'brien on ' In the Footsteps of Augustine Henry ' to the meeting of the Kilmacanogue History Society in the Glenview Hotel, Glen of the Downs, Delgany, Co. Wicklow.

The next 'at home' lecture for members of the Enniskerry History Society takes place 2 nights later at 8.30pm on Thursday February 9th in the Powerscourt Arms Hotel, Enniskerry, when Chris Corlett, will present his lecture on ' The 18th Century Headstones of Wicklow Graveyards.
