Shopping trip THE KILMACANOGUE Ladies Social Club have announced that the annual shopping trip will take place on Saturday 12th December to Newry.

This is always a very enjoyable day out and it is hoped as many members as possible will join them.

History society The latest meeting of the society took place Tuesday evening when Peter Wyse Jackson presented his lecture on 'The use of Wild Plants through the ages' and it was enjoyed by all the members.

To finish off the year, the Society will host local historian Brian White who will give his talk on 'The Secret life of the Dargle Valley' on Tuesday, December 1.

All the societies meetings take place in the Glencormac Inn, Kilmacanogue and everyone is welcome. Admission is just €3 and for members €2 and annual membership is just €5.

KARA clean-up The Kilmacanogue Area Residents Association (K.A.R.A.) held their most recent committee meeting last Wednesday and they announced that the final village clean up of 2009 will take place from 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 28.

A matter of concern is the village flyover where some unsuspecting motorists have felt it is a One –Way system and it was proposed to inform the N.R.A. that perhaps direction arrows should be painted on the road.

Tree planting at the roundabout and planters in the village were scheduled for the Spring of 2010.

Labour branch AGM THE Tom Mulligan branch of the Labour Party Annual General Meeting took place last Thursday in the Glencormac Inn and the following officers were elected for the coming year; Gerry Lavery-Chairperson, Oliver O'Farrell - Vice Chairperson, John Kenna Secretary and branch Treasurer and Christy Devlin-PRO.

The Christmas get together will take place on Sat 12th December at the same venue and all supporters and friends are welcome as this night is an open invitation to all.

Soccer action THE heavy rain won out last weekend with only the Under-9s in action.

They travelled to Enniskerry minus a few key personnel due to the mid-term break and despite the 5-0 defeat, they put in a gutsy a brave team performance.

All other games were called off. The South East Car Draw Tickets were due back by today with the first of the four monthly draws taking place in Buncloady this Friday night.

The clubs dedicated chairman Christy Devlin leads a one man campaign to ensure every year that this draw is a success for club, selling over 100 tickets at €40 a go and the proceeds of this draw keep the club a float for the season and all are indebted to Christy for his efforts. THE ANNUAL mass for deceased members of Kilmacanogue G.A.A. Club will take place on Friday, November 20 in Kilmacanogue at 8 p.m.
