Action on the field was limited to the Under 8's, 10's and under 14's.the under 8's took part in the WDSL Indoor Futsal in Bray and performed very well winning three out of their four games played. Well done to Luke Breen, Brian Coleman, Dylan Cannon, Darragh Heffernan, Devin Okundia, Bobby Dowling and Ryan Clarke.

The under 10's title hopes are all but over after a 5-0 loss away to nearest challengers Roundwood. They have guaranteed at the very least runners-up and still have a slim chance of the title but it really is a long shot at this stage. On the day their best players were Dylan Fitzsimons, Jack Elliott and Luke Dease. Likewise the under 14's were up against their nearest challengers in the form of Ardmore Rovers at home. The game ended in a 2all draw which was probably a fair result after an exciting game of football. Newtown led twice thanks to goals from Joe Shannon & Kenneth Turner. Best players on the day were Dion Doyle, Kenneth Turner and Michael Coghlan.

No games for the girl's teams last week but a lot of the players have been kept busy undertaking trials for the Emerging Talent/ndsl Academy. Eleven players from the under 15's are currently undertaking trials. Five players from the under 17's have been selected for the South Squad and they are Becky Cassin, Amy Murphy, Georgina Canavan, Cliona Crammond and Rose Fagan so well done girls.

Well done also to another under 17's player Katie Murphy who has been selected on the 19's Emerging Talent Squad. The 19's played a friendly last Friday night in the AUL Complex against Australia but unfortunately Katie played no part as she recently suffered a shoulder injury which will continue to keep her sidelined for another couple of weeks at least. Well done Katie from everyone in the club.

Two players are celebrating their birthdays in the coming week and they are Kasper Razniak from the under 11's and Joshua Loveridge from the under 14's. Happy birthday Kasper & Joshua from everyone at Newtown Juniors F.C.
