Speed indicators installed

A NUMBER of solar speed indicators have been installed in the Greystones area.
Cllr James O'sullivan, who had called for their installation, said he was delighted that the area engineer took his proposal on board.
'Regularly, I get requests from residents asking for speed calming measures to be installed in and around the town,' said Cllr O'sullivan. 'Speed indicators will work in conjunction with other measures to encourage people to reduce their speed on our roads. By promoting people to lower their speed and obey the limit, our roads in the town will be much safer.'
He said that the speed indicators in certain circumstances are an excellent way of deterring road users from speeding. They will encourage them to slow down and obey the speed limit. 'Speed bumps serve their purpose but solar speed indicators are a proactive measure to encourage users of the road to slow down and use an appropriate speed.'
