BABY GIRL
Congratulations to Gerard and Joanne Cassoni. Their new baby girl was born on December 15 in Mount Carmel. Baby weighed eight pounds and one ounce.
WEDDING BELLS
Best wishes to Cas Smullen and Helen McAllister. They were married in the National Yacht Club on December 15. The ceremony and reception was shared with their many relations and friends.
YOUTH CLUB
Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club committee and board of directors celebrated the end of year with dinner in the Martello Bistro. All agreed that the bistro provided the group with a superb evening, and meal.
ACTIVE RETIREMENT
Our Lady Queen of Peace Active Retirement has membership rising to over 110 members. Every Friday morning there are classes in the Villa Pacis in Yoga, art, knitting and crochet. It is hoped to expand the activities and incorporate new idead. All are welcome. Membership fee is €10 per person or €15 per couple.
Due to the recent outbreak of the Influenza A H1N1 Virus aka ' swine flu' the shaking of hands at the Sign of Peace at Masses has been cancelled until further notice. Perhaps at the time of the Sign of Peace, those at Mass might have a moment of silent prayer for those who are near them in the church.
Alcohol based hand gel dispensers have been installed in the porches and everyone is asked to use them when arriving for Mass. There is also alcohol based gel on the altar for Eucharistic Ministers to use before distributing Holy Communion. Please ensure that children use the gel correctly.
It is recommended by the World Health Organisation that anyone who is suffering from cold or flu like symptoms should stay at home. Parishioners who have a neighbour living alone might consider checking to see that they are well and that they have an emergency contact available to them. Windows will be kept open whenever possible during Mass to keep fresh air circulating.

This year's remaining fund raising event towards the church repairs is Sunday's Christmas Bazaar in the Villa Pacis – Santa will make a visit to visit the children.
