DEPUTY Behan's shock resignation from Fianna Fáil over the medical cards debacle has left him in the doldrums in the Dail, but with huge backing from ordinary people who have most to lose from Brian Lenihan's budget blunders. 'It will be a very lonely place for me and I'm not looking forward to it,' said the now Independent TD of his pending return to the Dáil, no longer a member of the majority clique.
Taoiseach Brien Cowen said that on a personal level he felt very disappointed at Deputy Behan's decision, but among the electorate the opposite was the case.
'I have had elderly residents in Bray ringing me and crying down the phone to congratulate me on my resignation,' said Behan.
