Firearms refusal upheld
Wednesday March 10 2010
A GARDA DECISION to refuse a number of applications for firearms licences was upheld by Judge Murrough Connellan at Bray District Court recently.
Chief Superintendent Tom Conway had turned down two applications, and these were being appealed.
A solicitor for Mr. Ryan and Mr Carroll applied to the Judge to restrict reporting in the interest of safety, however the Judge said that he could ' only presume that the items are locked away in safe and secure areas. It is up to the people to convince the Court that these things are safe'. Judge Connellan said that if there was to be no further information to the contrary, he intended to confirm the decision.
Similar matters for three other gun owners were adjourned to April 23.
