Harris declares war on dog pooh on pavements
Wednesday March 10 2010
CLLR. SIMON HARRIS is on a mission to rid Greystones of dog pooh.
'Whilst it may not be the most glamorous to raise, the problem with dog litter is a quite an issue in our town. There needs to be a much better strategy for tackling the problem and in my view this consists of the need for more enforcement of the law in relation to this matter, a look at the resources available and the provision of more dog-litter bins in the area.
'It is unacceptable that people who park their car without a ticket will find themselves with a fine but people who allow their dog do its business on our beaches, green areas and walkways seem to be get away with it.'
Cllr. Harris has put down a notice of motion for Greystones Town Council on the matter and said 'I hope that my motion can lead to a discussion on enforcement of the law, keeping our open spaces safe and clean for our children and for all people enjoying amenities and ensuring that enough dog-litter bins and the like are in place. This issue must be addressed and I intend to continue to pursue it at Town Council and County Council level.'
