Harry and Jade team up to raise over €5,500 for Haiti

Kind-hearted Harry and his faithful companion Jade.
A BIG-HEARTED six-year-old boy from Bray raised over €5,500 for Haiti when he ran a mile, swam 100 metres and climbed Bray Head with his faithful Labrador Jade.
Harry McLaughlin from The Headlands was devastated when he heard about the earthquake in Haiti last month and decided to raise money for Concern's Haiti appeal.
His initial idea was to set up a stall and sell some toys at the green near his home but his mum explained that might not bring in much money and the incredible triathlon was born.
Harry's mum Rebecca and his dad Stuart both work for not-for-profit cultural organisations and they gave Harry their full support but Stuart was adamant that it was Harry who did the work and got the job done. 'Mum ran the mile with me, Dad did the swim and there were a good few who came on the walk up Bray Head,' explained the young athlete.
'The walk was what I liked best. It was very muddy. Jade, who is six, was a help!' When Harry and his dad and grandfather visited the Concern Office in Camden Street, Concern representative Michael Commane was very impressed by the youngster's vast knowledge.
'He spotted a map of the world on the wall and was immediately able to point out where Haiti is,' said Michael.
'Granddad told me that an earthquake happens when the earth's plates move,' said Harry. 'And I know where Haiti is because at home in my bedroom I have a map of the world made out of wallpaper. It's a great map.'
The money is still coming in and Concern personnel are delighted with what Harry has achieved.
