KATY FRENCH'S sister, Jill, urged the Irish public to boycott the new book on her late sister's life in the run up to her second anniversary.

Katy died tragically two years ago last Sunday and the book

penned by Jason O'Toole went on release late last month. However, a close family friend said that Jill is sick of people cashing in on her sister's memory and said the timing of the book is particularly callous.

The book, to which t h e French family didn't contribute, has been criticised by model Glenda Gilson and a number of Katy's close friends who said 'it's sad and heartless bringing out a book like this now'.

The same appeal to boycott the publication was previously made on a tribute website dedicated to the late model. The controvers i a l account of Katy's death sold just 282 copies last week, according to the official Nielsen book sales figures placing it at number 117 in the top 1,000 of all categories.

By contrast, the Tayto bestseller shifted 2,075 copies, making it the Number 1.
