Laptop thefts affect Bray and Greystones

It has been discovered that Bank of Ireland Customers of Bray and Greystones are also on the list of customers affected by laptop thefts.It was confirmed on Monday by the Bank's officials that details concerning thousands of customers personal details had almost trebled.

It was confirmed on Monday by the Bank's officials that details concerning thousands of customers personal details had almost trebled.

The technical investigation identified that details relating to 31,500 policies, policy applications and a small number of mortgage customers were contained on stolen laptops and these now included customers from Bray and Greystones. The computers were stolen from employees up to 10 months ago but senior management were kept in the dark until February this year.

A forensic review was taken over the past week and Bank of Ireland have said they are confident that these are the final number of customers affected'.

KPMG also found the results to be reasonable and appropriate.

Customers of Bank of Ireland Bray and Greystones will be notified by post by Friday May 2 at the latest if they are affected.

A helpline is being manned to support concerned customers while letters were today sent to those affected. The Bank of Ireland help-line can be reached on 1850 365 365.

It will be open between 9.00am and 6.00pm from Monday to Friday.
