Man's bid to contest uncle's will fails

Wednesday February 03 2010

A GREYSTONES man has failed in his bid to contest the will of his millionaire uncle.

Mark Lambert, Rathdown Park, Greystones, joined his cousin June Lambert in asking the High Court to strike down the will of art collector Gordon Lambert.

Former Jacobs boss Mr. Lambert had left most of his estate, including € 4.5 million from the sale of his Rathfarnham home, to his friend Anthony Lyons.

The will before the court was made in 2003. An amendment was made later, disqualifying any beneficiary who challenged it.

Mr. Lambert died in January 2005 at the age of 85 and had no children. Mark Lambert and his cousin claimed Mr. Lyons (75) had put undue pressure on their uncle 'as to sap his free will' to such an extent that he could not freely dispose of his assets.

Mr. Lyons was executor of the will and held power of attorney for Mr. Lambert, who had Parkinson's disease.
