Marioara's appalling death

Wednesday February 01 2012

MARIOARA ROSTAS suffered an 'appalling death' which has even shocked seasoned detectives investigating the teen's murder.

Chief Supt. Michael O'sullivan has promised to leave no stone unturned in the search for the killers of the 18year-old and vowed to bring the culprits to justice.

HE has also described how the brutal murder shocked the highly experienced investigating officers and search teams who recovered her body last week.

'I can say she suffered an appalling death that is incomprehensible in a civilised society.

'Marioara was a harmless, defenceless young woman, 18 years of age - she looked younger than that.

'She was in this country for about three weeks, she was abducted, brutalised and murdered for no apparent reason.'

Gardaí have also asked for certain people who may have information to come forward.

A television appeal on Crimecall in April 2008 about Marioara's disappearance led to a man from County Wexford calling the Garda in June of the same year. A woman also contacted the gardaí in September with information and investigating officers would like both people to get back in touch. An information received by the Gardaí will be treated in the strictest of confidence.

In November 2008, and October 2009, seven people were interviewed in connection with the dead teen's disappearance. They included five men and two women.

The car used in her abduction was later recovered.

Her body was discovered in the foetal position wrapped in a plastic bag and buried a few feet deep by the truck of a tree.
