Owner's relief as falling tree misses house
A LANDSLIDE CAUSED a tree to fall into the back garden of a house in the Maltings recently, narrowly missing the house and demolishing fences and garden furniture.
'I look out my window now and I see nothing but this tree,' said resident Eleanor Jordan.
'There is a steep bank of woodland behind my house that links up with Herbert Road,' she said. 'A massive tree has fallen down the bank into my little garden. At least two of the fences have been destroyed and the tree has taken over my entire garden. The garden is so small now I can't get into it.'
While Bray Town Council have told Ms. Jordan that the tree is the responsibility of the owners of 'Mount Herbert,' to the rear of her home, the occupants of that house insist that the tree was on council land.
'I would be extremely concerned that more trees could become dislodged on the bank and may actually hit and damage other houses,' said Ms. Jordan, adding that other homeowners on her street share her concerns.
'I would like the tree to be removed and the broken fences replaced as well as preventative steps taken to stop other trees from toppling.'
