PLANS ARE WELL underway for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Greystones. The Community Affairs Committee and the Greystones and District Chamber of Commerce have been organizing the parade for the last number of months and are delighted to see their plans coming together.

Chairman of the Community Affairs Committee Kathleen Kelleher said this year's parade looks set to be one of the biggest the town has ever seen.

'We are all working very hard to make this year's parade the biggest, the brightest and the best ever and we can only do this with the help of the people of Greystones and the surrounding area. We need all the businesses and community groups and special groups to sign up to participate and to join us on the day.

'Of special note this year will be the music points around the town from those bands and groups who came forward to our request for more music and sound. Groups and bands will play at these stationary points and provide some entertainment before the parade.'

She also reminded shops and businesses not to forget to get into the spirit of things and urged them to take part in the window display competition.

'Prizes will be awarded to the business with the best display so be sure to get creative.

The organisers are also looking for stewards on the day, especially those who may have had previous experience marshalling events.

'We are all looking forward to having the town decorated and in full colour for Ireland's National Day - a day recognised and celebrated all over the world', she said.

Those wishing to participate or to help steward should contact Kay Coughlan, Greystones Town Council, 2876694.
