Red carpet rolled out at ?255-a-night hotel
Legendary singer Tom Jones was the main attraction at a gala black-tie charity ball in aid of Childline and the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre on Friday night and the welsh sex-bomb wowed the assembled crowd with a stunning performance of his hits.
Also present at the star-studded charity event were pop mogul, Louis Walsh, diminutive singer and Louth native Sharon Corr and U2 Svengali Paul McGuinness, as well as notable director Neil Jordan and of course prolific Irish model, Glenda Gilson.
The previous day, the luxurious resort was officially opened by An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, who was joined at the ribbon cutting ceremony by ex-Eastender, the glamourous actress Michelle Collins. Uniformed staff members were also there for the first official day of business.
The chic hotel is on the Powerscourt Estate and is expected to attract a number of major celebrities, not least curmudgeonly chef Gordon Ramsay who will be coming to the North Wicklow area next month to open his new signature restaurant at the Ritz.
Those splashing out on an exclusive stay at the prestigious location can expect to dole out a minimum of ?255 for the pleasure, with the chance to get the credit cards out at the aforementioned restaurant, a luxury spa treatment or tog out in some designer gear at Irish designer Louise Kennedy's top boutique, the options are endless.
Keen golfers can perhaps get an hour or two in at one of the hotel's two golf courses, and maybe rub shoulders with the superstars over a drink in McGill's pub or the Sugar Loaf Lounge and Bar.
