Signed Irish rugby shirt to be auctioned for fire families
A signed Irish rugby jersey goes up for auction live on air on East Coast FM on Friday with all the proceeds going to the families of Bray firefighters Mark O'Shaughnessy and Brian Murray.
The jersey has been signed by all our rugby stars and makes up just one of the events organised by Wicklow Town Alan Carey and friends.
Solicitor Donal Smith has already made a first bid of ?1,000 for the fundraising initiative on behalf of the families of the two firemen who perished in Bray last year.
A golf classic in Greystones Golf Club will also take place on May 30 with 50 New York firefighters already signed up to come over and support the event.
The FDNY Emerald Society President Billy Nolan says he is behind the fundraising initiative 100 per cent and is honoured to come to Ireland with 12 members of the committee to support their fallen Irish brothers.
This is our chance to pay back the incredible response which the Irish people showed after the twin tower attacks,' he said.
The two FDNY members who came to both funerals are both returning to once again show their support. The Golf classic is almost full but some slots remain in the morning tee off times. All sponsorship is welcome.
