HUNDREDS of boys who play rugby every Sunday morning at Greystones Rugby Club were amazed to see rugby legend Francois Pienaar strolling towards them at the grounds last weekend.
Pienaar attended the training session to give the lads some tips on their game, sign autographs and pose for pictures with his young fans.
Club Chairman Sonny Kenny said that the South African player had received the William Webb Ellis Cup from Nelson Mandela at the Rugby World Cup in 1995. He said that it was a great honour to receive Pienaar at Greystones Rugby Club.
He was in Ireland last weekend to give his support to the 'Lust for Life' website, aimed at helping men understand Testosterone Deficiency. The campaign will encourage men over 40 to contact their GPs for a clinical assessment if they suspect they have low levels of testosterone.
'Men all over the world are slow to visit their GP if they are concerned about their health,' said the rugby star. 'I'm told that this isn't any different here in Ireland and it really is a shame, as men are exposing themselves to unnecessary risk by not getting appropriate medical advice at the earliest possible opportunity.'
