RUGBY LEGEND Shane Byrne was on hand to launch Scoil na Coróine Mhuire's fun festival of tag rugby which will feature many other former Irish rugby greats.

Shane, Leinster's most capped player, popped into the Ashford school on Wednesday to lend his support to the fundraising initiative organised by Scoil na Coróine Mhuire Parents Association. The money raised will be put back into the school.

You can watch the dads and mums from Ashford National School play Tag Rugby, refereed by former Irish International, Paul Clinch, and cheer on the Junior school players who will play an Exhibition Match. There will be an opportunity to get your photograph taken with the Heineken Cup which will be on display at the school and seek out autographs from some very special rugby guests. Meet some of Ireland's former rugby players, such as Mick Quinn and Ollie Campbell or have a chat with Rugby Analyst, Brent Pope.

Speaking after the launch this week, Tom McGann, Principal of Scoil na Coróine Mhuire, said ' the entire school is very excited about this great festival of tag rugby. It is wonderful to see the children so thrilled about their parents playing in the game and meeting all these great Irish Rugby Players.

'We are so grateful to all the Rugby Stars who are giving of their time. This event embodies all that is important to us about sport and teamwork whilst raising much needed funds for the school. The day is gearing up to be quite spectacular.'

An exclusive draw will take place for an autographed and framed IRFU Grand Slam Jersey, signed by the Irish Grand Slam Champions with bonus signatures from the leading highest test points scoring rugby great, Jonny Wilkinson, as well as England Coach and former Captain, Martin Johnson and former Irish Captain, Keith Wood. Tickets for this prize are limited and only cost € 10.

The family day out takes place on Sunday, March 7 at Scoil n a Coróine Mhuire at 1 p.m.. The kick-off is at 2 p.m. and the entry fee is €2 per person and €5 per family.

For tickets contact the School on 0404 40424 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. weekdays.

You don't have to be a Rugby fan to have a great day out. There is fun for all the family – face painting, bouncy castle, music, hot dogs, donuts, popcorn, free giveaways, raffle prizes and lots, lots

more.
