Resurgent Bray see off Students
BRAY WANDERERS survived a late scare on Friday night to book their place in the last eight of the FAI Cup for the second year in a row. The Seagulls terrible twosome of Shane O'Neill and Jake Kelly had earlier fired the visitors into a three-goal lead, but the Wicklow club looked set to hit the self-destruct button in the final seven minutes of the match, allowing UCD striker Ciarán Kilduff to net twice in three minutes to set up a grandstand finish.
KEOGH'S CORNER
WHAT'S ANOTHER YEAR? No one has told me but I am prepared to bet that Tony Hannon was among many Wicklow people in Croke park on Sunday. If he was then he must have been watching with more than ordinary interest as Kildare player Richard Kelly lined up the kick that could have ended Down's interest in the All-Ireland. A year ago Tony was in the same position in Aughrim and is not likely to forget the scenes when his kick sailed between the posts to sent the Down packing.

Sugarloaf make point on their top flight debut
SUGARLOAF FC'S first ever top flight Wicklow League encounter saw them take a well earned point off journeymen St. Peter's Bhoys on Sunday. The 'Loaf took a surprise first-half lead through winger Eoin McMahon who opened his account for the season with a stunning long-range effort. Fellow winger Emmet Lawless switched flanks, spreading the ball out left to McMahon. The number 11 was halted initially by his marker but the ball then bounced up invitingly for him and he took all by surprise; sending a beautiful dipping effort flying over the head of Shane Gallagher in the Saints goal from all of 25 yards.
