The U-10s will be playing for a place in the semi-final this Saturday at 9.30 in the sports complex in Arklow for the indoor hurling league. We would like to get a full turnout and support for the juveniles in this important competition.
Under 13s will be representing Wicklow in the Wexford League final against Castletown on Sunday at the clubhouse, so we'd like to get a lot of support up for the lads on the day. The U-10s had mixed results in the indoor league, going 2-2 at the most recent day out. Though weak in numbers, they played good matches and were unlucky in some respects, but the U-12s had a good showing in the winter league against Kilinerin and Askamore, but were unfortunate to go down by a one to Glenealy. In 2 weeks time the Rocks will be hosting the finals of the competition, so we'd like to get some volunteers to make sandwiches and help with tea/coffee.
Following on the great success of the Arklow Rocks Camogie Academy, the camogie club will be holding registration day on Saturday the 6th of March from 10am to 12pm at the clubhouse. All who register on the day get a €10 discount. Registration is open to under 6s all the way up to intermediates. Tea and coffee will be available for those who wish to come. Anyone who would like to help volunteer is more than welcome.
The Jubilee Dinner Dance is on the 9th of April at 7.30 in the Arklow Bay hotel. Tickets €35 each for a four course meal, music by Breakaway and a DJ afterwards. Awards, spot prizes and maybe even a sing-song on the night will ensure that the celebrations will be as legendary as the championship will in 1985. Book now to avoid disappointment. For all the senior and junior players who have not paid membership yet, this needs to be paid before the first match of the season to be eligible to play and to be covered for insurance in training. Please ensure that any outstanding dues are paid promptly.
Finally, Lawrence Dallaglio will be stopping off in Arklow in aid of Sports Relief on March 5th. He's cycling around the 6 nations countries and visiting all the stadia involved. On Saturday morning he'll be cycling up to Croke Park and will be in the Arklow Bay on the Friday night to raise funds, so all who are interested in helping Sports Relief come down and have a chat, a few pints and donate a few bob for a good cause.
