At a very well attended Aughrim GAA Club committee meeting held in the new Sports and Leisure Centre on Thursday last, a number of plans were put in place for the immediate future.

Our footballers will be travelling to Castleblaney on this coming weekend to play the Faughs in our annual Dawn Lacey memorial tournament. They will have their first outing in the 2010 League when they play host to Ashford on Saturday 13th March. Sadly, the meeting was informed that no adult hurling team will be entered in this year's hurling championship – breaking a run of almost half a century. For about half this period Hurling was the only game played in the club. However, with the current level of hurling activity in the juvenile section of the club, this drop from adult hurling may be short-lived.

The finance committee arranged to meet on 2nd March to plan fund raising for the remainder of the year. Best wishes were extended to Stephan Mann and Robert Lambert who will be involved with the county U-21 footballers in their 2nd Round clash with Laois in Aughrim on this Saturday at 2pm. Those players and other club members, who have not yet submitted their membership, are reminded that their attention to this matter is very important for membership registration.
