Coolboy in All Ireland
THE SENIOR and junior handballers from Coolboy recently qualified for the All Ireland 40 by 20 club finals.
The senior team Michael Gregan, Pat Quaile, Michael Lennon, Johnny Willoughby and Sammy Willoughby ( sub) beat the Munster champions Glenbeigh from Kerry 104-75. Michael Gregan lost the first game 13-21 7-21. Pat Qualie and Michael Lennon beat O'Shea and Sanddler 21-8 21-2. Johnny Willoughby beat JJ Quirke 21-17, 21-6 to book their place in the final against Ballahadreen, Co Mayo.
Not to be outdone by the seniors, the junior team of Jerome Willoughby, Garry Donohoe, John Rogers, Keith Kavanagh and James Gregan defeated St. Agustine's of Dungravan at O'Loughlin's, Kilkenny by 105-70. Jerome Willoughby won the first two games by a score of 42-26. John Rogers and Gary Donohue won the doubles 42-29.
Leaving Keith Kavanagh needing only 14 points to win the game and qualify for the all ireland final against Salthill form Galway on Sunday, December 13. Venue to be confirmed. On the Waterford team were D Walsh, P Hearney, J Kindergan, C Kindergan and J O'Brien.
This is a great achievement for the Coolboy club. They were narrowly beaten in the All Ireland 60x30 club finals earlier in the year
