Dunlavin pip Kilbride

Wednesday January 18 2012

A YOUNG Dunlavin team with a very experienced manager in the person of former County Chairman Andy O'brien got off to a winning start in the West Wicklow Winter League on Sunday but this was a game that could have gone either way.

While centre forward Tom Walsh grabbed the only goal of the match in the first half, it wasn't enough to boost the confidence of the Kilbride team.

With Enda Bowes and minor star Gary Carroll tapping over the points, the home side went in leading by 0-7 to 1-3 at half time. In a low scoring second half both sides added a further three points to their tally to leave O'brien's boys bagging their first brace of points.

Organiser John Stones has to be happy with how his new league is running at this early stage with all or almost all of the games being very closely contested.
