GAA A.G.M.

Wednesday January 25 2012

THE KILMACANOGUE GAA Club held their A.G.M in the Glencormac Inn last Monday week. It was a very upbeat meeting with many contributors. The Incoming officers elected for the 2012 season are as follows: Chairman Brian Morgan, Vice Chairman and Juvenile Chairman Ed Mulligan, Secretary Jason Doyle, Assistant Secretary, Peader Smith, Treasurer Joy Burke, School Liaison Officer Christy Fox, Drugs abuse Officer Stephen Morgan and P.R.O Daniel Gorman.

After a very successful year at adult level, the club recognises the difficulties they are facing both on and off the field. As of yet, there is no under 16 or minor teams and with the loss of some very talented young girls at under 14 level, this throws up more difficulties. With a large number of our young people leaving our shores and a lack of footballers coming through, this further shows the challenges the club faces in the coming years but they vow to meet all these challenges head on.

Prior to the A.G.M, some club members met with the juvenile development officers of the County Board who have committed to assist Kilmacanogue in any way they can.

The first plan is an eight-week coaching Programme starting week beginning Monday 6th February with the selected age group 14 to Minor.

Guest Coaches will be in attendance on each night of the programme and after 4 weeks, the club will present a limited edition T-shirt to each player. After completing the 8 weeks, the club will bring all participating players paintballing as a reward.

An appeal was made at the meeting and through these notes for players of all ages to join. Kilmacanogue Gaa Club also announced that mentors training is required and will be provided for all. All interested parties should get in touch with Secretary Jason Doyle on 087-7906486.

The club would like to congratulate Shane Vickers who won the Clubman of the year. Shane has been a dedicated club member working tirelessly as a player and juvenile coach over the years. (yes tirelessly but not silently) so a big congratulations to Shane on this well-deserved award which was presented to him on behalf of the Molloy Family by Kevin Molloy.

Finally the Fox Cup awards night Dinner Dance will take place in The Glen of the Downs Golf Club on February 10.

Tickets are priced at €25 and are limited. You are advised to contact any club member early for these tickets to avoid disappointment.
