Injury blow for U-21s
Wednesday February 03 2010
A BLOW to Wicklow's U21 footballers is the news that Mark Kenny has sustained a broken collarbone just weeks before their opening Leinster championship game.
Mark Kenny from Ballymanus Club is a member of Mick O'Dwyer's squad as well as the county U-21 panel.
A skilful and talented footballer, who plays either midfield or in attack for his club, sustained the broken collarbone while playing for the county U21s in a challenge match against Maynooth's Sigerson Cup team a couple of weeks ago.
The injury is expected to keep him out of the game for six weeks at least and it means that he is ruled out of the opening Leinster Championship match against Longford on February 21 in Aughrim.
Wicklow's U-21s clinched their place in the final of the Carlow tournament on Sunday last following their draw with Wexford at Castletown.
