PADDY DALTON CLUB SENIOR FOOTBALL
PADDY DALTON captained St. Mary's to victory in Wicklow's senior football championship in 2011.
They were creating a bit of history as it was the first time for a group team win the senior title and he was also bringing the Miley Cup south for the first time since Tinahely won in 1984.
Paddy's senior medal was a richly deserved reward as he has been a true servant of his club Coolkenno and exceptionally loyal to the county team over several years.
A wholehearted player Paddy Dalton gives his all to the cause every time he takes the field. He is a versatile footballer and has served his club and county with distinction as a defender, attacker or at midfield.
The Coolkenno man has been willing and able to step up to the plate wherever the need is greatest and he has always brought a great passion and spirit to his game that has won the admiration of his team colleagues as well as supporters.
He lined out at midfield for St. Mary's in the county final and led by example as they dethroned Rathnew, never an easy task for any team to achieve.
Paddy Dalton is an inspiration and example to the young people coming up.
He won a Tommy Murphy Cup medal under Mick O'Dwyer in 1997.
However, winning or losing, Paddy Dalton always gave 100percent effort to every game.
Still it is great to see such an illustrious football career fittingly rewarded with a senior football championship medal. This sports star award, richly deserved, is further endorsement of a marvellous football career.
He would have won an intermediate championship medal with Coolkenno and never lost faith even though success at senior level continued to elude them.
