IT WAS a nice feeling picking up the daily papers on Monday morning and seeing Wicklow's footballers on top of their league table. Yet there is no room for any complacency in the push for promotion as two counties, Limerick and Clare, are still better placed, having dropped no points and having a game in hand.

Under-21s lose out: A GOOD win for Micko's men on Sunday but one that leaves a lot of unanswered questions. After four rounds of the league Wicklow have threes wins on the board and one very narrow defeat. That leaves them in a good enough position to make a big push for promotion, should Micko decide to go down that road.

A DOUBLE scores win over arch rivals Carlow at any time and in any game is always welcome. Keeping Wicklow's footballers in a challenging position for promotion is also a good thing to maintain interest and incentive in the remainder of the league.

THE U-21 footballers went oh so close to making it three wins from three matches for Wicklow teams at the weekend. Two missed goal opportunities midway through the first half cost Wicklow dearly in the end as they crashed to defeat to Laois by three points in the Leinster championship for a second successive year at Aughrim on Saturday.

LAST WEEKEND was an important one for Cumann na mBunscol Cill Mhantain when they had the honour of hosting the National AGM. Delegates from all over Ireland came to the Garden County. The venue was the Marriott Druids Glen and the choice was highly complimented by all the delegates for its surrounding beauty and excellent service.

THE DIVISION 3 South game between Aughrim and Annacurra a very exciting local derby, played in Annacurra. Aughrim got off to a good start with an early goal. Annacurra fought bravely and for most of the first half it was end to end stuff. Daniel Owens and Adam Rochford played well in the middle of the field for Aughrim while Oisin Furlong, brought on to strengthen the Annacurra midfield, and Elliot Robinson got stuck in and never let them dominate.
