St. Kevin's students are top of the class
THE WICKLOW 125 committee organised another successful event in the County Grounds Aughrim last Thursday night with a table quiz for Post Primary schools.
Schools from all over the county took part with Michael Sargent of East Coast FM as quiz master. All the teams wore their school football jerseys which made it a very colourful display on the night.
It proved to be a very enjoyable evening for all and there were many suggestions that it should now be made into an annual event. There were numerous spot prizes on offer with one team winning a set of Wicklow jerseys.
Around half of the questions were on GAA related topics including a photo round to identify players. All teams acquitted themselves well, with the prize winners in doubt until the last round. Fittingly the total number of marks on offer was 125 to coincide with the number of years since the GAA was founded in 1884.
The overall winning team was from St Kevin's Community College Dunlavin. Colaiste Eoin Hacketstown were in second place just ahead of the two teams from Avondale Community College. The prizes were presented by Jimmy Dunne Chairman of the Wicklow 125 committee and County Board Chairman Andy O'Brien
Post Primary Schools Chairman Brian Doran thanked all who had helped out including Kieran Burke and John Boyle who made out the questions as well as those who had provided the refreshments at the interval. He also thanked Victor O'Shaughnessy and his team of workers for their preparatory work.
