BALTINGLASS

Last weekend we had the Lady Captain Olivia Cooney presenting her prize to the Lady members, a very exciting finish with Maria Walsh winning on the back 9. Later that evening everyone enjoyed a buffet followed by presentation of prizes where Olivia expressed her gratitude to her husband, her family and all the childminders who helped her out throughout her year, all the members, the hardworking committees, the volunteers, to Martin and his hard-working course staff for the excellent condition of the course and Olivia also had high praise for the caterers for their service and efficiency.

Ladies results, Saturday/Monday, July 24/26:18 hole V Par: 1st. Rosemary Redmond 4 up; 2nd: Mairead O'Sullivan 1 up back nine; 3rd: Pat Nolan 1 up.

COOLLATTIN

Last weekend Coollattin staged an open fourball in aid of Carnew Community Care. Winners with a score of 46 points were Maurice Gill (11) and Padraig Doyle (8).

Runners up with a score of 45 points were Tom Wilkinson (12) and Andrew Byrne (18). Best gross went to Parkbridge men Mark Egan (8) and John Hughes (12) who returned a fine score of two under par 38 points. Third place went to a pair of nineteen handicappers, Frazer Furlong and Pat McCrea with a score of 44 points. The best visitors prize was won by O. Lawlor (16) and Pat Dunphy (17) with a score of 39 points.

KILCOOLE

Ladies' section: Lady Captain's (Laraine Joyce) prize to 5-day member: Winner: Geraldine McDermott (36) 40 points; 2nd. Carmel O'Grady (34) 35 points; 3rd. Alison Polley (32) 35 points.

Stableford, 31 July: Cl. 1. Caroline Mohan (20) 34 points; Cl. 2. Pauline Corcoran (32) 33 points.

ARKLOW HARBOUR GOLF SOCIETY

The annual society competition for the Nancy and Jerry Earls Cup was held.

This cup was presented to the society by the Earls family in memory of their parents .

The competition attracted a large turn out of players and was played in perfect weather conditions at the home of golf the Bunker golf course.

The competition was very keen and close and it was all down to the very last hole the 18th which saw Niall Barnes lift the cup for the second time as he had won it in 2007.

He had a score of 42 points with Jackie Hudson in second place with 41 points. Niall's victory came from his consistent play as he scored on all 18 holes.

Third place with a score of 38 points went to Stephen Porter one of our new young players to the society.

The front nine was won by Dinny Hannigan and the back nine went to Declan Kenny.

The Sunday morning competition will continue next weekend see notice board for the venue and tee off time.
