GREYSTONES: Veteran, Eddie Condren has added another string to his golfing bow. Eddie, a former Irish Senior International, shot a blistering 67 in a club competition recently to beat his age - 68. Eddie from Bray, Co. Wicklow, who now plays off 2, won the gross prize for his excellent round.

WICKLOW

The following are the results of the competitions held in Wicklow Golf Club over the past few weeks. The men's 18-hole stableford singles held on July 25th with Robin Pearcy (10) in 1st place with 44 points, 2nd was Mark Kavanagh (12) with 44 points, 3rd was David Finegan (16) with 41 points, 4th was Fay McCoy (16) with 41 points, 5th was Conor Jameson (4) with 41 points, and 6th was James O'Toole (14) with 40 points.

The results of the Men's open singles senior competition held on Tuesday July 27th were; 1st Philip Dowling (20) with 46 points, 2nd was Patrick Doyle (18) with 45 points, the winner of Category 1 was Keith Clarke (7) with 39 points, Category 2 was Ivan Messett (14) with 44 points and Category 3 was Jim McNamara (21) with 42 points.

The winners of the 18-hole 4-ball stableford competition held on Thursday July 29th were; M.A Conway (6) and Alvin Mitchell (19) with 52 points, 2nd were Ruben Dover (16) and Kevin Lynch (13) from Arklow Golf Club with 49 points and 3rd were Breffni Early (10) and Mick Burns (17) with 49 points.

The results of the Richard Porter's Captains Prize held over the Bank Holiday weekend were; 1st Niall Dowling (13) (66&70) - 136, 2nd Brian Tracey (7) (65&74) - 139, 3rd Joe Kelly (13) (63&77) - 140, 4th Fay McCoy (14) (72&69) - 141, 5th Robin Pearcy (14) (71&70) - 141, 6th Michael Doyle (13) (71&71) 142, 7th David Harrington (24) (64&78) - 142, Gross: Andy Kavanagh (5) (72&71) - 143. The best front 18 was Ruben Dover (16) with 64 and the best back 18 was Kevin Czwalina (7) with 69.

The winner of the past captain's price was Leonard Murphy (12) with (72&74) - 146. Finally the winners of the RNLI team event held on the Bank Holiday Monday were; Andy Kavanagh (5), Peter Marah (13), Kevin Porter (13) and Donnacha Murphy (21) with 55.8, 2nd were M. Corrigan (15), P Douglas (11), G. Gilbert (16) and K. Healy (18) with 57.0 and 3rd were Kevin Gill (13), Darren Coffey (10), Nick Beeston (7) and Tommy Murphy (18) with 57.2.

WOODENBRIDGE

Lisney's Open Day: Thursday 5th August: 1st. Bernie Darcy/Pat Nolan (Arklow G/C) 42 points; 2nd. Mary McDonald (Woodenbridge)/Celine Smyth (Courtown) 40 points; 3rd. Una McClean/Angela O'Connor 39 points (B9); 4th. Stella Burke/Aileen Sheehan (Woodenbridge) 39 points. Front 9 - Paula Johnson/Michelle Crummy (WB) 22 points. Back 9 - Pauline Darcy (Arklow)/Siobhan Saunders (WB) 22 points.

Mens Competition, August 7 - 1. David Dunne (12) 44 points, 2 Patrick F. Byrne (15) 40 points, 3. Niall Phelan (5) 40 points, 4. Joe O'Reilly (21) 40 points.

BRIDGE HOTEL GOLF SOCIETY

The Bridge Hotel Golf Society would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Billy O'Brien and Fintan O'Connor on their recent sad bereavements. The last two week's competitions were cancelled as a mark of respect.

Next week's competition is at Djouce Golf Club, Roundwood (sponsored by Shaun Carey), with tee-off at 10 o'clock.

BALTINGLASS

18-Holes Singles Stroke Summer Medal: Winner: Paudge Doody (6) 68 nett; Runner-Up: Eoin Patterson (10) 69 nett; 3rd: David Whelan jnr (5) 69 nett; Gross: Robert McHugh (2) 72 gross; 22+: Peter Moran (22) 78 nett.

Ladies Results: Winner: Assumpta O'Neill (26) 38 poinyd; Runner-up: Marie Byrne (30) 36 points; 3rd: Mary Mc Donagh (18) 35 points.

Club Fundraiser Friday 20th, Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd August, 4 person team event. Entry €120 per team including food, and every visitor that plays will receive a green fee to the value of €30. Open Singles every Tuesday, Entry €12. This Wednesday at 5.50pm BALTO 14. Singles Stableford this weekend sponsored by Mace (John Fleming).

Novelty competition for all members and visitors alike… the "Sharpest Shooter" and "Longest Hitter" competition on Friday 27th August at 6 pm all welcome…. more details in next issue.
