INSIDE RIGHT: Save the fashion shows for the catwalks
AFTER ENJOYING the week-long feast of horse racing that is the Galway Festival, 'Inside Right' feels the need to have a rant about something that really gets under the skin regarding television coverage of the sport of kings - namely fashion. When a big race meeting is on yours truly wants to see man and horse in perfect symmetry moving gracefully around the track, not frocks, feathers and high heels jaunting playfully around the periphery of the course.
Sport and family life going hand in hand
YOU MAY or may not have noticed that 'Inside Right' has been missing from these pages for the past couple of weeks, on a sabbatical of sorts. However, yours truly hasn't been serving a suspension for bad taste, lapping up the sun in warmer climes or partying the day and night away in the midst of the Cheltenham madness.
O'Hagans on a winner
TWO BROTHERS teamed up to score a notable win at a point-topoint race meeting at the weekend. At Bennetsbridge on Saturday, John O'Hagan was the jockey that rode to victory on Lasquini du Moulin, a horse owned and trained by his older brother Declan.
The top ten annoying things in sport
EVERYBODY HAS something that drives them up the walls, makes their blood boil and fills them with pure and utter ire. It'll come as no surprise to you that 'Inside Right' has several.
Sports fans frozen out by the big freeze
INSIDE RIGHT is getting damned fed up of this arctic weather. No GAA, no rugby, Premier League football across the water decimated, no decent horse racing or anything else worth tuning into for that matter.
Saluting top sporting stars of last 25 years
THE SELECTION of Istrabraq as Ireland's favourite horse of the last 25 years, as voted for by the Irish public, ahead of Dawn Run, Moscow Flyer, Danoli, Vintage Crop and Limestone Lad, got a massive thumbs-up from yours truly.
BRAVE JOCKEY ITCHING TO GET BACK ON THE TRACK
WHEN TALENTED young jockey Matt O'Connor took an horrific fall from Walking Aisy in a Beginners Chase in Thurles in late March it came as a stark reminder of the dangers involved in the National Hunt game.
