Scoil Chonglais girls in senior final

SCOIL CHONGLAIS 5-13 DOMINICAN COLLEGE 1-05

Wednesday March 10 2010

SCOIL CHONGLAIS may have failed to take the senior camogie crown but their senior girl's footballers were most impressive in reaching the county final.

This game was played in Baltinglass and the home team started very well.

They were seven points up within twelve minutes with Emma Byrne scoring 0-4 and Chloe Farrell 0-3. DCW manager John O'Brien made some changes which seemed to settle his side but Scoil Chonglais then hit them with three goals before half time to lead by 3-10 to 0-1 at half time.

Dominican College played much better in the second half. In this period both sides played some excellent football and added some great scores.

The Wicklow town school never looked like coming into contention but they can feel pleased with their second half performance. Scoil Chonglais, who are coached by Aisling Leonard now go on to play St Kevin's Dunlavin in an all West Wicklow final.

The stylish Emma Byrne was outstanding for the winners and was well supported by Chloe Farrell, Paula Faulkner and Lucy Cush.

Dominican College had a star in goalkeeper Hayley O'Dea who brought off some top class saves. Others to do well included substitute Laura Manley, Aine McDonald till she had to go off injured and Naomi O'Loughlin.
