Rugby camp a total success
Wednesday August 11 2010
The annual 'Scrum 4 Fun' Summer Camp at Wicklow Rugby Football Club was held last week and the popular event was a roaring success. Despite the horrendous weather, the event showed there were no fair-weather rugby players to be had in Wicklow as a terrific week was had by all 110 plus boys and girls that took part in Scrum 4 Fun camp.
Local Wicklow hero and former International, Lions and Leinster Rugby player Shane Byrne showed his support for underage rugby in the county by attending on Wednesday while current star Sean O'Brien was on hand as well.
Both legends visited each age group individually, taking questions, strange as some may have been, and were happy to accommodate whatever the children asked of them.
They posed for group photos with each age group, which the children were then given a copy of at the end of camp as a momentum, along with a substantial bag of gifts that included a rugby ball, WRFC Scrum 4 Fun T-shirt, pens, stress balls and certificate to name but a few. East Coast FM made a surprise visit on Friday and brought good weather with them. They broadcast live from camp and gave lots of treats out to the happy campers.
Wicklow RFC new season for underage rugby starts back on Saturday 6th September at 10am and all new members welcome. Rugby is fun, so come up and enjoy the fun with friends.
