Bray 3-3 Railway Union 4 (Bray win 5-4 on flicks)
Rounding off a day of cup action, Bray men's first team played their first game of the new year in the Junior Challenge Cup in a highly competitive and hard fought game.
Bray went behind early but equalised shortly before half-time when Cian Hussey slotted home from a rebound.
The visitors were gifted two soft goals to go 3-1 up at the start of the second half and it looked to the onlookers like the game could've been won at that point.
The hosts weren't backing down, and turned up the heat on the opposing defense, creating a flurry of chances and finally got their breakthrough when Stuart Collier received the ball on the top of the D and managed to put a reverse stick shot past the goalkeeper.
Now in the ascendancy, Bray pushed on and a few minutes later were on level terms when Adam Brennan put the ball home after receiving a pass that somehow managed to make it all the way across the D.
Although the home side pressed hard to get a winner the game went to extra-time. Railway looked most likely to score, coming close on two occasions however Bray hung on for 15 minutes and so the contest would end in penalty flicks.
Both sides scored on their first 3 attempts with Jerome Anglin, Sean Brennan and Stuart Collier netting for the hosts, however on Railway's fourth Chris Doyle made a great save with an outstretched hand to deny the away side so when Lorcain Miller and Cian Hussey scored their subsequent flicks, Bray won the game cuing a pile-on on the Bray 'keeper.
It was a cruel end to an incredible game but Bray will be delighted to move onto the quarter-finals in March.
